JCP&L: Majority of Power Should be Restored by Weekend

Over 3,600 customers in Eatontown and Tinton Falls remain without power Wednesday morning.

The majority of the remaining should be restored by the weekend, with full restoration by early next week, according to a statement released Wednesday by FirstEnergy.

Over 3,600 customers in Eatontown and Tinton Falls remain without power as of 10:14 a.m. Wednesday, according to the FirstEnergy Web site.

More than 770,000 FirstEnergy customers in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland have been restored after losing power due to Hurricane Irene.  Overall, 920,000 customers were affected by the storm.

Crews continue working to restore service to the approximately 150,000 customers who remain without power.

Many of the areas that remain without power experienced severe flooding as a result of the storm, which has limited crew accessibility and has hampered the damage assessment and restoration process.

As is being cleared, customers are cautioned never to touch downed lines.  Customers should always assume downed wires are carrying electricity and are reminded to keep their children and pets away from downed wires.
