The food is one of many things that makes Oceanfest such a popular event in Long Branch. There will be some Jersey Shore staples such as zeppolis and lobster rolls to seafood favorites such as paella and crab cakes.

There will be crafters and vendors selling everything from handcrafted jewelry to dog treats.

Another highlight of the day is the Long Branch Department of Recreation 3 vs. 3 basketball tournament in the Ocean Place parking lot at 10 a.m.

If there are any open slots in the tournament, registration will be open on the morning of Oceanfest morning at 9:00 a.m. The winning team will receive a trophy, basketballs and a gift certificate to a local establishment. Those interested in participating can contact the Recreation Department at 732-571-6545 to register.

The day is capped with a huge fireworks display at 9 p.m. The fireworks will be simulcast on 95.9 The WRAT as well.

The Greater Long Branch Chamber of Commerce raises all the funds for Oceanfest and the fireworks display. Oceanfest organizers will again be collecting donations from the public to help offset these costs. Donations can be sent to the Chamber office at 228 Broadway (PO Box 628), Long Branch, NJ 07740.

Patch will be there taking photos and mixing it up with the vendors at Oceanfest, so make sure to check back on Tuesday for full coverage of this Long Branch staple!
