Forecast Shift Could Bring Up to 5 Inches of Snow to Long Branch

Snow accumulation increases in latest prediction

A storm that was expected to bring no more than a light dusting to our area could now bring a few inches to Long Branch and the surrounding towns according to the National Weather Service. 

The forecast for tonight calls for clouds and a low temperature of around 34 degrees before rain is expected to arrive after 10 a.m. Wednesday morning. It also looks to be a windy day with winds between 20 and 25 MPH with gusts as high as 41 MPH. 

Snow is expected to arrive in our area Wednesday night with the wind expected to continue blowing strong. The forecast as of Tuesday afternoon calls for between 3-5 inches on Wednesday night. The snow will likely continue through Thursday morning with an additional half inch of accumulation possible.

Thursday night could bring more rain to our area before possibly shifting to snow later on. The forecast only calls for a light amount of snow to fall Thursday night into Friday morning. 

Our area could see more rain on Friday night before the sun returns on Saturday with a high near 49.

  • Tuesday Night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 35. East wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 12 to 17 mph after midnight.
  • Wednesday: Rain. High near 41. Windy, with a northeast wind 24 to 29 mph, with gusts as high as 49 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
  • Wednesday Night: Snow. Low around 33. Windy, with a north wind 30 to 38 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
  • Thursday: A chance of snow before 9am, then a chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 40. Windy, with a north wind 29 to 32 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
  • Thursday Night: A chance of rain before 1am, then a chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. Windy, with a north wind 24 to 29 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
  • Friday: A chance of snow before 9am, then a chance of rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 44. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
  • Friday Night: A chance of showers before 7pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 34. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
