Lice Lifters of the Jersey Shore

HEAD LICE...LET'S START TALKING SO WE CAN "STOP THE STIGMA " AND TAKE AWAY THE FEAR!

Hello to everyone!  Just want to remind you that September is Lice awareness month...the kids are getting out of camp and heading back to school.   Bringing along more than just their pencils and books...Head Lice!  A mom's worst nightmare! However,  it doesn't have to be a nightmare any longer!!

Heres a couple tips on how to detect and prevent those little buggers from coming home with one of your children and infesting the whole family...

Girls should wear their hair back in a bun or french braid...lice crawl from hair touching hair.  When hair is stable and not moving around there is less chance for lice to latch on...narrow the target!

Lice don't like the smell of mint,  use your Mint Lice Repellant spray before school,  parties,  playdates,  and sports events.  It helps!

The most important part in your defense against the little buggers is a weekly head check with a professional lice comb.  It only takes a couple minutes and can save you lot's of time, energy and worry!

Let's say you pick Sunday night as your head check night...you do a 5 minute head check with your lice comb...when you get a letter from school on Monday morning,  alerting you that there is lice in your child's classroom,  No Worries!  you did your weekly headcheck so you know your child's clear of lice.

Of course,  teach your children not to share things like brushes,  sports helmets and hats.  We can't prevent Lice,  but we can be pro-active so we can narrow the target!

Have a great start to your school year!

I will drive through the area tomorrow to see if I spot anything! Try googling volunteer searchRead More groups for missing dogs. There are a few in the NJ area. Also ask the local SPCA and Humane Society to see if they can lend you humane traps. Try patrolling the area with food of a strong odor...raw meat, steak, etc. Search in tiny groups and split up to avoid scaring him away, and always bring food and a leash in case you have to lure him over and then leash him. Try also sitting in the area last spotted quietly to see if he approaches you. Bring food so he smells it. Just a few things I have learned while doing some dog searches. Keep sharing and put up posters locally...it helps!
