An Appetite Big Enough to Feed an Army Applebee’s Supports the New Jersey Army National Guard 1,000 Guards Personnel and families celebrate Fort Dix Family Day

Doherty Enterprises, Inc., the 10th largest franchisee and operator of New Jersey Applebee’s restaurants, recently sponsored and participated in the Fort Dix Family Day held on Sunday, August 11.  Nearly a thousand guardsmen and women and their families, comprising of the 50th Chemical Company and the 154th Water Company of the New Jersey Army National Guard, celebrated together.

The 154th Water Company of Sea Girt, New Jersey, was relocated to Fort Dix after their location was destroyed by Superstorm Sandy. Units from Forked River, Tom’s River, Manchester and Manahawkin pulled together with volunteer assistance to ensure a memorable meal. The Home Depot of Manahawkin donated all utensils, charcoal and even the use of a van to transport all necessary items. Pine Belt Chevrolet of Tom’s River donated additional bags of charcoal to keep the food donated by Applebee’s piping hot. Volunteers including Linda Pagan and Marie Pillar donated their organizational skills.

“Today’s celebration was a happy day for Applebee’s because it is not every day we get to feed honored members of the New Jersey Army National Guard along with their families,” says Kevin Coughlin, Director of Operations for Applebee’s New Jersey. “We are grateful for their appreciation and will display their token of gratitude with pride.”
