Sea Bright Businesses Rise Above Sandy

Businesses are coming back to Sea Bright soon

It was a scene that was hard to forget.

Shortly after Hurricane Sandy struck and devastated Sea Bright, Brian George stood in front of his whiped-out Northshore store with a beaten down but hopeful look and feeling as he chatted with passersby. A sign on his gutted, barely standing business said "We believe in Sea Bright ... We'll be back."

And, they will be back, and soon. George has announced that his business will be open in Sea Bright on March 1, in a different place.

"Since Dec. 1 we (had) relocated the business temporarily back in Rumson, where we started the business back in 1982," George said. "We'll be heading back to Sea Bright on March 1 at a new location at 1127 Ocean Ave in a building we're calling "Big Yellow. We're excited about the move. We'll be on the ocean side a block from Woody's."

George had told Patch that he raised his children in Rumson and has a special affinity for Sea Bright because of his ties to the area.

On his comeback, George said, "Besides our classic tailored clothing, sportswear, furnishings, varsity raggs collegiate sportswear and shoes we'll be adding womenswear featuring: Vineyard Vines, Island Company, Tori Richard and Castaways. We will have an official grand reopening on April 6 but will be open for business on March 1."

Goerge is an officer of the Businesses of Sea Bright (BSB), and says "we'll be promoting the rebirth of business district."

And there has been a major comeback of many, with more to come soon.

Businesses that are open currently in Sea Bright are: Ama Ristorante at the Driftwood, Bain's Hardware, Dunkin' Donuts, Harry's Lobster House, Woody's Ocean Grille and Mrs. Rooney's Hot Dog Stand.

Opening soon are: Yumi, Giglio's Tackel Shop, Century 21 Real Estate and Northshore. Opening in April are: Cono's Sea Bright Pizza, Gracie and the Dudes, Super Golden and DIVE!.
