Rook Opens Its Doors in Little Silver

Customers will be able to text in orders and pay for their premium java with Smartphones.

After months of anticipation, coffee lovers in Little Silver and Oceanport can grab a premium cup of joe right around the corner and never have to venture near Route 35.

Rook Coffee Roaster, launched in 2010 by Oceanport residents Holly Migliaccio and Shawn Kingsley, opened the doors to its newest outpost at the Little Silver Train Station on Monday.

“We leaked the word on our Facebook page late on Friday, that we would open our doors in the morning. That small leak helped for a fantastic first day,” said Migliaccio in a release.

Rook also has locations in Long Branch, Oakhurst and a roastery in Ocean Township across the street from Wegman's.

The train station location is set up much the same way as the Rook's Long Branch and Oakhurst shops, with coffee sold to-go and no seating. Customers can use its 12 15-minute parking spots out front that will allow for quick turnover in the shop. They will also be able to text in orders and use Smartphones to pay, according to the release.

During its first week in business, Rook’s hours will be Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Thanksgiving from 7 a.m. to noon.

Starting Monday, Nov. 26, Rook’s set hours will be Monday through Friday, 5:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“While we are excited to be a convenience to the daily train commuters, we intend to be a hub for the local community to enjoy a fresh cup of coffee as well”, Migliaccio told Patch in June.
