Rate Changes Will Mark Friday's Opening at Suneagles Golf Course
Some golfers will find the "hybrid" rate schedule to be a bargain. Others will see their memberships go up significantly.
When the first players tee off Friday at , formerly operated by the US Army, they will notice two things: the greens are looking good and the rates have changed.
Where there were once six categories of membership, the new operator of the course, , has whittled them down to three. Last week when Atlantic Golf Management CEO Stephen Rice announced the reopening, he said his firm would be using a "hybrid" of the Army's recent rates and the up-to-20 percent increase that his contract allows for. New memberships will run from October 2011 to October 2012.
This week, Atlantic Golf sent an e-mail to golfers whose memberships just expired with the Army. This letter included a detailed list of rates and memberships. Patch has excerpted that letter here. Here's how the new daily rates break down:

What has changed?
The new operator has combined the Army's membership categories, E1-E6 and E7-E9. The new rates for this category, which Atlantic Golf referred to as "active military," are $615 for single and $860 for family. This change represents a slight increase for some and a large increase for others.
Atlantic Golf also combined the Army's 1-8 categories into a single category. Here members, who are retired military, will pay $1,250 for single and $1,700 for families. Again, the change represents a small increase for some members and a significant one for others.
The final category, called the "all others" and includes the public, is set at $2,300 for single and $2,600 for family. This represents a decrease in fees for public members of $600.
Members that pay the full fee by Nov. 1, will receive a 10-percent discount, according to the operator.
Atlantic Golf noted that, "Any added fees in the membership take into account the added services including a full service locker room, lower pro shop pricing and the services of a Class-A PGA golf professional. Membership includes unlimited greens fees, ability to book tee times up to 8 days in advance, unlimited range balls, use of locker room."
