McLoone's to Kick Off Saturday at Suneagles Golf Course

McLoone's Restaurants will kick off a new banquet service at Gibbs Hall at the Suneagles Golf Course in Eatontown this weekend.

The restaurant and catering outfit will host the Greater Red Bank NAACP Freedom Fund annual luncheon on Saturday. McLoone's signed a contract for the venue with Atlantic Golf Management Inc. in early November.

At this location, McLoone's will offer banquet services in , and once it secures a liquor license, dining services at Sal's Tavern, adjacent to the course.

Atlantic Golf has a one year contract to operate the golf course, which began Sept. 30. McLoone's will be able to operate Gibbs Hall until that time next year.

Helen Doyle, vice president of development for McLoone's Restaurants, said that if Atlantic Golf were to buy the property her company would like to continue to operate here.

"Tim McLoone saw this as an opportunity, for a short period of time, given the economic times we are in, to offer packages to a bride that are more affordable, where she can still get the McLoone's experience," Doyle told Patch Thursday.

With packages starting at about $80 a person, that experience would include pared down services including a four hour wedding, versus the usual five.

Packages for a wedding at in Long Branch range from $104-$135.

And given the short term of McLoone's contract,

Doyle said McLoone's is still waiting on the special liquor license permit from Trenton. She said she expects to have it in hand by the end of January. In the meantime, McLoone's will be able to pull its liquor license from one of its six other establishments for the purpose of off-site catering.

The golf course, which was once a part of Fort Monmouth, is still owned by the Army, which has leased it to the for one year. FMERA will seek to sell the golf course on behalf of the Army.

So far there has been no word about negotiations with Atlantic Golf, or any other company, on a purchase of the property.
