Defense of a Muslim-American Judge Is Christie's Finest Hour

The governor appointed Sohail Mohammed to the NJ Superior Court and condemned the 'ignorance' of 'the crazies' who criticized him for it.

Since my last blog dealt with some of dumb things that politicians do and say, its only fair to give credit when they do something very deserving of praise.  Gov. Chris Christie’s passionate words defending his choice of Sohail Mohammed to serve on the New Jersey Superior Court are very noteworthy and very deserving of praise.  Mr. Mohammed, an American citizen who happens to be Muslim,  is very highly regarded by Governor Christie. His appointment to the court by the governor was heavily criticized by the “crazies” as the governor called them.   They had claimed that Mr. Mohammed would rely upon Sharia law, which is the religious law of Islam, in rendering decisions from the bench.

The governor referred to that criticism of Mr. Mohammed as “ignorance” and he is 100% correct. What made the governor's words even more noteworthy is the fact that some of the “crazies”  who would treat Muslim-Americans differently from people that practice other faiths include at least two members of his own political party who are presidential candidates as well as several others who are serving in the United States Congress.

I’m proud that the governor of our state feels this way and am glad that he said so in public for all to hear, including the "crazies." You can see and hear the governor's words here:
