5TH Annual Eatontown Fishing Derby Held Saturday At Wampum Park
It was a bad day to be a fish as dozens of Eatontown children gathered at Wampum Park Lake this past Saturday to participate in the 5th Annual Eatontown Recreation Youth Fishing Derby.
It was a bad day to be a fish as dozens of Eatontown children gathered at Wampum Park Lake this past Saturday to participate in the 5th Annual Eatontown Recreation Youth Fishing Derby. Sponsored by the Eatontown Recreation Advisory Committee, the event goal is to showcase beautiful Wampum Park as well as to encourage families to participate in the great outdoor tradition of freshwater fishing.
Prizes were awarded for first fish caught, largest fish caught (17 inch catfish)
and most unique fish (tiny, tiny sun fish - 2 inches.) Eatontown Youth Committee Graduating Senior Awards were presented to long time committee members Nina Forbes, Mike Ronan and Mike Smeaten for their time, contributions and dedication to the committee.
Eatontown Recreation & Community Services Director Janice Grasso noted that she wished to thank everyone that made the event possible including the Eatontown Mayor and Council members as well as the events sponsors Earth Treasures Jewelers, McDonald’s of Eatontown, Spring Lake Freezer, Sports Authority-Long Branch and Musket Trout Hatchery of Asbury Park.
