Thursday, March 20--Happy Spring Everyone

Yeaaaaaaaa, It's the First day of Spring.
Hopefully this means no more snow. 
I realize that there are still some areas with snow,
let's hope it all melts by the weekend.

Here are some days and dates for Spring & Summer you may want to jot down.

Tuesday, April  15--First day of  Passover
Passover (Pesach) generally lasts for eight days in the United States.
Many Jewish people spend the Passover period with family members or
close friends.They make a special effort to ensure that older people, the poor, and those living alone can take part in the ceremonial meals known as Seder. 
Passover is not a federal holiday in the United States.

Sunday, April 20--Easter
Many Christians celebrate Jesus Christ's resurrection on Easter Sunday. 
The Easter date depends on the ecclesiastical approximation of the March equinox.

Tuesday, April 22--Earth Day
Earth Day is an annual event on which events are held worldwide to demonstrate support for environmental protection. 
It was first celebrated in 1970, and is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network and celebrated in more than 192 countries each year

Monday, May 5--Cinco de Mayo 
Cinco de Mayo is the anniversary of a victory in 1862 in the fight for independence from French forces.It is a festival of Mexican pride and heritage in the United States.

Sunday, May 11--Mother's Day 
Mother's Day celebrates motherhood and it is a time to appreciate mothers and mother figures.
Mother's Day is not a federal holiday.

Saturday, May 15--Peace Officers Memorial Day
Peace Officers Memorial Day is held in honor of federal, state and local officers killed or disabled in the line of duty. It is observed in conjunction
with Police Week.
Peace Officers Memorial Day is an observance but it is not a federal public holiday in the United States.

Saturday, May 17--Armed Forces Day 
Armed Forces Day is a day to pay tribute to men and women who serve the United States’ armed forces. Armed Forces Day is also part of Armed Forces Week, which begins on the second Saturday of May.
Those who are honored on this day include people who serve the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard.

Wednesday, May 21--Emergency Medical Services for Children Day
Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Day is observed on the Wednesday of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week, May 19–25, in the United States.
EMSC Day is not a public holiday but it is a national observance in the US.

Monday, May 26--Memorial Day 
Memorial Day is observed on the
 last Monday of May. It was formerly known as Decoration Day and commemorates all men and women, who have died in military service for the United States. 
Many volunteers place an American flag on each grave in national cemeteries.
Memorial Day is a federal holiday.

Friday, June 6--D-Day
D-Day is observed in the U.S. in memory of the Normandy landings in France on June 6, 1944, in which American soldiers and other Allied forces
fought to end World War II in Europe.
D-Day is an observance and not a federal public holiday in the U.S.

Saturday, June 14--Flag Day 
People across the United States celebrate Flag Day
each year to honor the United States flag andto commemorate the flag’s adoption. On the same day, the United States Army celebrates its birthday.
Although Flag Day is a nationwide observance, it is not a public holiday in many parts of the United States. 
It is a legal holiday in a few areas in the USA, such as Montour County in Pennsylvania.

Sunday, June 15--Father's Day
It celebrates the contribution that fathers and father figures make
 for their children's lives.
 Its origins may lie in a memorial service held for a large group of men, 
many of them fathers, who were killed in a mining accident in Monongah, West Virginia in 1907.

Thursday June 19--Juneteenth
Juneteenth is an annual oservance to remember when Union soldiers enforced the Emancipation Proclamation and freed all remaining slaves in Texas on June 19, 1865. This day is an opportunity for people to celebrate freedom and equal rights in the United States.
Juneteenth is a partial or full state holiday, or an official observance in about half of the US states, including Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Washington and Wyoming

Friday, July 4--Independence Day 
Independence Day is the anniversary of the publication of the declaration of independence from Great Britain in 1776. Patriotic displays and family events are organized throughout the United States.
Independence Day is a patriotic holiday for celebrating the positive aspects of the United States.

Tuesday, August 19--National Aviation Day
National Aviation Day is to celebrate the history and development of the aviation. It coincides with the birthday of Orville Wright who, together with his brother Wilbur, made significant contributions to powered flight.

National Aviation Day is a federal observance but it is not a public holiday in the United States.

Thursday August  21--Senior Citizens Day
National Senior Citizens Day recognizes contributions senior citizens make in communities across the United States. 
National Senior Citizens Day is an observance and not a public holiday
 in the US.
