New Year Challenge--XVIII-Taking a glance at Shrewsbury Boro and Shrewsbury Township
We are coming near the end of a look of two of the 53 recognized municipalities in MC. An ongoing project to taking a look at visiting
Monmouth County as being one of our resolutions or challenges. It is my challenge to you to see if you can visit all 53 municipalities of Monmouth County in the year 2014. It's up to you how you want to do this.
You will find a complete list at
BizEturtle: Monmouth County Municipalities.
See if you can get a picture of yourself and the mayor or a town official
and send it to me .I'll post it up here. Mail to lynn@bizeturtle.com.
You must be in the town and not one of the sections. For added excitement see if you can visit all the sections. This adds on around 58 more places to visit. For more information about Monmouth County History,
Check out my page of Museums & Historical Societies.
Today's visit is to the Township of Shrewsbury with a population slightly
over one thousand. It is a small town located inland with it's own separate entrance. For information on it's history check with
Don Burden, President of the Shewsbury Historical Society at 732-747-3635 or e-mail Don at donaldburden@verizon.net
We also look at the Borough of Shrewsbury. It is also situated inland
with a larger populaiton of over three thousand. For it's history you can
also check with Don. For both towns you can also check out the Eastern Branch of the Monmouth County Library System.
Here are some interesting tidbits. The borough and the township each
have their own Mayor, etc. The borough has it's own police department
and the township uses the state police.
