Memorial Day 2014 in Monmouth County


MEMORIAL DAY SERVICES, PARADES & MORE

Saturday, May 24

ENGLISHTOWN
8:00 AM
Motorcycle Charity Ride in honor of all of the veterans who have 
served in the Vietnam War. 
Leaves from Raceway Park and proceed through rural parts of 
Manalapan, Millstone, Marlboro and end at the Vietnam War Memorial 
in Holmdel. The ride will be police escorted. At the memorial, 
there will be a short presentation by the Manalapan Police Honor Guard 
and members of the Monmouth and Middlesex County Pipes 
and Drums. The motorcycle ride will then return to Raceway Park
for food and drinks, along with entertainment provided by 
Rockin' Country Thunder 106.3FM. There will be vendors and 
photo opportunities for riders with their motorcycles. 
Registration will be on the date of the ride from 8 to 10 a.m.
Ride begins at 10:15 a.m. The first 250 riders to register will 
receive a free T-Shirt. Cost: $20 riders, $10 passengers;

Begins with a Beachfront War Memorial laying wreath ceremony at
at Florence and Front Street. Followed at 12PM with a Parade Line up 
at Boro Hall (Poole Avenue and Stone Road). Parade will step 
off at 1 p.m. from Poole avenue to Florence avenue to Front Street to Union avenue and finishing at Union Beach Memorial Library (Union avenue and Jersey avenue) which includes 7 Bands, WWII Reenactment Group, WWII Military vehicles, classic cars, little league, soccer, Hazlet Thunderettes, Keyport Explorers, Keyport Raritan Post 23 Color Guard, Union Beach andKeyport Boy Scouts, troop 134, Girl Scouts, Brownies, Cub Scouts, Keyport Pop Warner football Elected Officials from Local, County, State and federal, and much more. Rain date is May 31.

ALLENTOWN

Grand Marshal Bob O'Hare, will lead the 2014 Memorial Day Parade. 
The parade will be followed by a Memorial Service featuring a memorial 
salute by members of American Legion Post #31's Honor Guard and the 
Civil Air Patrol, Squadron NJ 082, Color Guard, led by its Commander,
Lt. Mary Lenner. Members of the Civil Air Patrol, will demonstrate the
folding of the American flag and its presentation in honor of those who 
gave their lives in service to our country. Patriotic selections and "Taps" 
will be performed by the Allentown High School, Redbird Marching Band, 
directed by Ross Hecht. The service will take place at the memorial 
monument near the upper entrance to the school.

Neck First Aid Building. At 10:30 a.m. we will have a Memorial

Lt. Col. Charles Long, Commanding Officer, 6th Motor Transport

Lt. Col. At the conclusion of our service, we ask that everyone 
proceed across the street to the Wells Fargo bank where the
Monmouth Beach Veterans Association will unveil 
an updated list of veterans from Monmouth Beach on the wall 
of honor who served our country. At the conclusion refreshments 
will be served by the Monmouth Beach Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

be held in front of the Youth Temple. Mayor Dr. Michael Brantley and 
guest speaker Commander Tommy Atkins will address the crowd.

Neptune High School. Refreshments will be served after the parade

"What Memorial Day Means to Me". There will also
be a wreath and flag ceremony along with a gun salute. 
After, everyone is welcome back to the Shrewsbury Hose Co. 1 
for refreshments. If it is raining, the ceremony
will take place at the Shrewsbury Hose Co. 1.
