Monmouth Regional Productions Nominated For 13 Awards

Count Basie Theater awards program nominates two Monmouth Regional productions

 

Two Monmouth Regional High School productions have been nominated for 13 Basie Awards.

The Basie Awards is a Count Basie Theater program that honors excellence in the dramatic and musical productions in Monmouth County, and the nominees were announced Wednesday night in the theatre’s Carlton Lounge.

The Monmouth Regional High School Drama Club, who has been a participant since the first year of the awards program in 2006, left the evening with a record-breaking 13 nominations, according to club advisor Anythony Greco.

Monmouth Regional’s fall production of the NJ Premier of The 39 Steps garnered seven nominations including Best Production.

Juniors Nick D’Ambrosia, of Tinton Falls and Danielle Gordon, of Shrewsbury, were both nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor & Actress, respectively.

All production elements were nominated including Set Design, Lighting Design, Costume Design, and Outstanding Direction.    

The club's latest production, Seussical! the Musical, brought back six nominations. Nominees include Set Design, Costume Design, Outstanding Choreography, Outstanding Musical Direction, Outstanding Direction, and Best Production.    

The cast of Seussical! the Musical will take center stage at the Count Basie Theatre on Wednesday, May 23  to perform a selection of their performance at the 7th Annual Basie Awards.

Greco said the Monmouth Regional High School Drama Club holds 52 nominations and said he was "happy that the students hard work and professionalism had been recognized."
