Nicole Alt Photography prepares for April 2011 solo exhibit at the West Long Branch Library.

West Long Branch, NJ-- Nicole Alt Photography prepares for April 2011 solo exhibit at the West Long Branch Library.

Ms. Alt has been interested in photography, the power of photo editing /enhancements and videography since "before I can remember... when my Dad would let me use his disc and other film cameras, plus the monstrosity of a video camera we had! Remember how they rested on your shoulders and made you walk rather awkwardly --while leaning to one side-- because they were as heavy as they were cumbersome?

Nicole Alt's photos have been published in Hillsdale, NJ's commemorative "time capsule book" entitled "One Day in Hillsdale"; exhibited at the Edgewater Arts Council's Music & Art Festival, NJ; donated to the Englewood Library's Fashion Show, NJ; taken up temporary residence at the Saddle River Valley Cultural Center, NJ; entered into both juried and non-juried shows; are on permanent display in a Paramus, NJ doctor's office; plus a few have served as the inspiration for a local watercolorist's prize-winning submission into the C.A.A. members' competition.

"Well, the most exciting thing of all would be when my Dad would give me his 'hand-me-down' film cameras as special gifts: Like everyone else, as the technology improved, he became interested in owning a new treasure every few years. Upon receiving it, I began saving all of my weekly allowances to buy film, and eventually learned to use photo editing software at adult education classes. I love creative artistic projects so much, that I can oftentimes be found working on improving photos just for fun, when I should be sleeping!! I enjoy taking candids that just happen to include people, but my prized possessions are landscape/ scenic and animal portraits."

A couple of Nicole's favorite quotes are: "Every artist dips her brush into her own soul, and paints her own nature into her photographs." - adapted from H.W. Beecher. "The Negative is the equivalent of the Composer's Score, and the Print is the Performance." - QuoteGarden.com.
