West Long Branch Christmas Sing and Toy Run Set For Sunday

Events will be held on Sunday, Dec. 23

A long-standing borough tradition will continue this weekend as West Long Branch residents celebrate Christmas a week early.

The West Long Branch Christmas Sing will be held on Sunday, Dec. 23 at 5 p.m. in Woolley Park. The park is located on the corner of Monmouth Road and Cedar Avenue.

Members of the West Long Branch Council and Mayor Janet Tucci will be on hand to lead residents in the singing of holiday classics.

This is the 83rd time the event has been held, so there is a good chance that second and third generation West Long Branch residents will bundle up and come out to sing their favorite tunes.

While the Christmas Sing is an event for all ages, the West Long Branch Fire Department Toy Run is strictly for borough children.

On the same morning as the Christmas Sing, children will awake to sight of a fire truck carrying Santa Claus down their street to deliver an early Christmas gift to them. Children usually receive a small toy from members of the fire department.

Santa begins his ride around town at 9 a.m., so children should make sure they don't sleep in on Sunday morning and keep an eye, and ear, out for the flashing lights and sirens of the fire truck.
