Tinton Falls Tree Lighting Heralds Start of Holiday Season [VIDEO]

The borough held its annual tree lighting ceremony on Sunday

Families flooded the triangle of land at the intersection of Sycamore and Tinton avenues Sunday night to witness the annual borough tree lighting in Tinton Falls and get some face time with the big man himself to lay the groundwork for the big day later this month.

The holiday tree, located at the in the historic heart of the borough, was decorated by local Girl Scout troops with some help from their friends at the . Following the sudden burst of colorful lights that wrapped around the tall evergreen, children made their way to the nearby gazebo to join in some caroling to fill the balmy night air.

After Santa came roaring down Sycamore in a firetruck driven by members of (conveniently located across the street), he hopped off the truck and led a throng of children back to the firehouse for some hot chocolate and cookies and an opportunity to whisper to him their holiday wishes.
