Police Rescue Woman, Baby From Flood Waters in Elberon

The rescue occurred near the Elberon train trestle.

The Long Branch Police rescued a woman and her baby from the area around the railroad bridge in Elberon on Tuesday morning.

"The woman, whose car was stuck in water at the Elberon train trestle, had climbed to the roof of the vehicle with her baby awaiting help," the Long Branch Police Facebook page states. "Officers (Thomas) Hueston and (Cesare) Simonelli rescued her while Cpl. (Michael) Vogler saved the baby.

Sgt. Frank Passantino was credited with supervising the rescue.

The city is looking to repair the drainage in the constantly-flooded area, but no work has been completed.
