Snow Possible For Long Branch-Eatontown Area Thursday Night

A winter storm warning has been issued for the area.

A potential snowstorm could be hitting the Long Branch-Eatontown area Thursday night.

A winter storm warning has been issued for the area from 6 p.m. today through 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 3. 

The National Weather Service's latest forecast calls for 3-7 inches to fall tonight, and that could impact area schools on Friday morning, when another 2 inches could fall.

Here is the National Weather Service's forecast for Thursday and Friday:

Today: Rain showers likely before 5pm, then rain and snow showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 38. Breezy, with a northeast wind 17 to 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Little or no snow accumulation expected

Tonight: Snow. Low around 18. Windy, with a northeast wind 23 to 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible

Friday: Snow showers likely, mainly before 9am. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 19. Wind chill values as low as -1. Windy, with a northwest wind 21 to 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Friday night: Clear, with a low around 6. Wind chill values as low as -3. Northwest wind 11 to 16 mph becoming light after midnight.
