Portions of Second Avenue Closed to Traffic

Workers are paving sections of the Long Branch street this week

Motorists who plan on using Second Avenue in Long Branch should plan an alternate route this week.

Portions of the street are being repaved by the Long Branch Sewerage Authority and traffic is being detoured to Sairs Avenue and Third Avenue.

Long Branch Sewerage Authority Executive Director Joseph Martone said the portion of Second Avenue from South Bath Avenue to Pavillion Avenue was milled on Monday and is being paved on Tuesday.

Martone said the paving should be completed by about 4 p.m. Tuesday.

He said the portion of Second Avenue from Morris Avenue to Chelsea Avenue will be milled and paved later this week, and possibly as early as Wednesday. That section of the roadwork will also be a two-day project, Martone explained.
