Paying it Forward: Holiday Express Turns its Attention to Volunteers

Holiday Express volunteers deliver the gift of kindness during the holiday season and are recognized during "National Volunteer Week."

In honor of National Volunteer Week, Holiday Express, located in Tinton Falls, hosted a wine and cheese event for its volunteers on April 14.

Founded in 1993 by local restauranteur and musician Tim McLoone, Holiday Express is a grass roots, non-sectarian organization that travels throughout the Tri-state area throughout November and December to spread holiday cheer to those who might be otherwise forgotten. With over 1,300 volunteers, including 80 professional musicians, the group delivers music, food, gifts, financial support and friendship to adults and children who are physically and mentally disabled, living with AIDS or homeless, as well as the isolated elderly and others in need.

Holiday Express was highlighted this past Christmas Eve on NBC Nightly News for its work spreading seasonal good will that included volunteers sorting donations in its Tinton Falls warehouse and musicians performing at a party in Paterson, NJ.
