One Fish, Two Fish, Go Catch A Big Fish at The Eatontown Derby

Saturday, June 4 is the 3rd Annual Youth Fishing Derby for kids at Eatontown's Wapum Park Pond.

Eatontown's Recreation Advisory Committee expects about 100 kids from Eatontown who are under the age of 15 to show up with their fishing poles for the Third Annual Fishing Derby on Saturday morning between 8 - 10am.

To ensure that there would be fish to catch, the committee enlisted the help of Jeff Mancini from Musky Trout Hackeries in Asbury, NJ. Thursday morning, Mancini made the trip down from Warren County to stock Wampum Pond.  On hand to oversee the stocking was Recreation Director, Janice Grasso, Assistant Director, Lucy Herrera, Fire Marshal, Rudy Trask and Matt Dutch from the Department of Public Works.

Four hundred fish were stocked in the pond, including catfish, blue gills and some bass that were donated by Musky Trout Hatchery.  Worms will be provided and prizes will be awarded! If you are under the age of 15, you can win a prize for the first fish caught, the most unique fish or the biggest fish.
