Meet Wallace Armour: Making Your Life Easier at the Tinton Falls Recycling Center

For 10 years, Wallace Armour has provided a friendly face and a little extra muscle to those in need at the Tinton Falls Recycling and Refuse Site.

When your house is overflowing with the detritus of life, there is one person that Tinton Falls residents can count on to help them clear the clutter from their lives.  You may not know his name, but most of us have met this quiet and friendly man while at the Tinton Falls recycling center behind Borough Hall.

Wallace Armour will have worked at the Tinton Falls Public Works Department for 10 years this August.  After knee replacement surgery mandated that he move to lighter duties, he became the custodian of the recycling and refuse site.

He will check the name and address on your license as you enter the site to ensure that you’re a Tinton Falls resident, and will help direct folks unsure where their bulky trash and recycling should go to the proper location.  I have seen Wallace in the heat of summer and in the freezing cold, and he has always possessed the same calm, helpful spirit.

If you happen to have your kids in the car, Wallace is sure to produce a large bag of candy for them to choose from, something my kids would always look forward to.  Even three years after we've moved out of the borough, he remembered my own boys and sent me away with two lollipops, one for each.

Wallace, who lives in Long Branch with his wife, loves to hunt and fish.  He hunts rabbits, pheasant and deer.  He is also an avid ocean fisherman and likes to give most of his catch away to friends and colleagues.  He is a local boy who grew up in Matawan and spent many years working at Riverview Medical Center delivering products to each floor in the hospital.

He enjoys meeting different people every day in his job.  “I like to serve the people in Tinton Falls and to keep the residents happy,” he said.

A trip to the dump is a far more pleasant experience than expected due to the presence of Wallace Armour in Tinton Falls.
