The Purr'n Pooch Foundation for Animals is hosting a Pier Village event aimed at pleasing pooches and their owners.
The foundation's Annual 5K Canine Run Walk Classic will be held on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 8 a.m.
All are welcome to attend and dogs are required to run or walk on leash. Interested participants can pre-register at www.purrnpoochfoundation.org. Race shirts will be given to all dog owners and the entrance fee is $25.
The Purr'n Pooch Foundation asks participants to seek input from their vet before letting their dog run or walk in the race
"Before starting any physical fitness routine, visit your veterinarian to make sure that your new up or old friend is up to meeting the physical demands of a high impact walk or run," the foundation states on Patch. "Once you get the green light from your vet, start an exercise routine with easy strolls and build up to a comfortable, quicker pace that gets both you and your best friend’s hearts pumping."
The Purr’n Pooch Foundation for Animals awards annual grants to non-profit, no-kill animal welfare organizations to be used for day-to-day operations, emergency relief, spay/neuter efforts, veterinary care, equipment, construction, vehicle purchases, educational programs and special projects.
