Beach Replenishment Underway In Long Branch

By Christopher Sheldon

The Army Corps of Engineers are in the midst of replenishing most of Long Branch's beaches.

Crews could be seen pumping sand onto the beach at Pier Village, the starting point for the project, over the weekend.

The project will then run north to the Long Branch-Monmouth Beach Border and will then run from Lake Takanassee north to Pier Village.

The project is estimated to be completed in the spring.

The rest of Long Branch's beaches, will be the focus of another replenishment project in 2014.
