Banish Talk of "Nothing to Do" with a Trip to the Tinton Falls Library this Summer

The library has summer reading clubs for both adults and kids and some programs for those more attuned to the fine art of technology.

The Tinton Falls Library promises to take the "nothing to do" out of this summer for borough families with a host of programs guaranteed to coax even the most reading-averse member into planning a trip to there.

The library will use its theme, "One World, Many Stories," to encourage readers of all ages to explore travel and interesting destinations, their people and cultures.

The adult reading club, Novel Destinations, will kick off on June 22 with an eclectic and extensive reading list that culls books from over 20 countries. No sign up is required, just pick up a form when you take out a book, fill it out and return it when you return your book. Please add a review of your book so it can be posted on Facebook or online. The filled out form goes into a weekly drawing for prizes, open only to adults, from June 22 to Aug. 17.

Also, the library has sign ups for a new program for kids in grades 6-8. The program is called Traveling Techies. Travel dates and agenda are:

  • July 5, 12 - Audio recording
  • July 26 - Cartooning
  • August 2, 9: Photostory

The group meets from 2 to 3 p.m. on those dates in the library. Children will explore the world of digital media by creating and recording audio tracks, cartoons and digital stories. They will learn how to share their creations as MP3s, videos and more! Programs are free. Sign up is required and space is limited to eight, unless you bring your own laptop. Contact Brenda Walenczyk at 732-542-3110 if you have any questions about the program.
