All Long Branch Beach Entrances Are Open

The Brighton Avenue beach entrance was the final access point restored

By Christopher Sheldon

The Long Branch Department of Public Works (DPW), with assistance from the county, has been working hard over the last few months to ensure all the city's beach access points are restored after being destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.

As of last week, all 15 of the city's beach entrances are now open. DPW workers created either sand ramps or wooden steps to allow the public to enter the beaches at those locations.

Brighton Avenue was the last beach access point that was restored, as crews were waiting for the beach to build itself back up before building the stairs from the street to the sand.

The beach entrances at Pavilion Avenue and North Bath Avenue opened last month, the Seaview Avenue entrance opened two weeks ago, and 11 other entrances were ready to goby Memorial Day weekend.

The following beach entrance points are open in Long Branch:

• Brighton Avenue

• Great Lawn

• Madison Avenue

• Laird Street

• Chelsea Avenue

• Melrose Terrace

• Morris Avenue

• South Bath Avenue

• Matilda Terrace

• Cottage Place

• West End Avenue

• New Court

• Seaview Avenue

• Pavilion Avenue

• North Bath Avenue
