What’s so great about rowing? Find out with a visit to Navesink River Rowing on National Learn to Row-Day, Saturday, June 7, 2014.

Whether you are interested in getting in shape, trying something new, enjoying the outdoors or meeting new people, rowing could be great for you. It’s fun, healthy, a change of pace from your usual workout and ideal for cross training, pushing your limits or simply enjoying some time on the water.  But don’t take our word for it.  See for yourself.

Stop by the NRR site at the end of Maple Ave in Red Bank between 10 AM and 1 PM for a free, hands-on introduction to rowing. You’ll find local rowers of all ages ready to:

·       Show you the group’s facilities and equipment

·       Demonstrate rowing basics on land

·       Give mini-lessons on the water

·       Answer questions

·       Explain educational, recreational and competitive opportunities available locally for youth (14-18) or adults (18 to 80-plus).

Navesink River Rowing is one of 75 independent rowing organizations in 27 states that are opening their doors to the public on National Learn to Row Day, an annual event sponsored by USRowing, the sport’s national governing body, and Concept 2, makers of indoor rowing machines.

“National Learn to Row Day is a wonderful opportunity to see firsthand what rowing is all about,” says NRR board president, Kay Vilardi.  “It's a great low-impact sport for all ages, and all abilities.”
