Guest speaker, Ted Freeman, of he Monmouth County Sheriffs Office will present a program called "Lock Your Meds." This program focuses on prescription drugs, the second most abused category of drugs in the United States. Prescription drugs are easily accessible to teens from the home medicine cabinet. Many teens falsely believe that because they are prescription drugs they are safe and non-additive.
The "Lock Your Meds" program teaches the importance of inventorying and securely storing prescription medications and the proper disposal of them when completed. The program also stresses that these drugs can be just as additive and just as lethal as drugs bought on the street.
