Help me, help my sister who is suffering from a rare disease.
are twin sisters, Caroline & Emily Harris, high school seniors, who
are co chairing a 5k run/walk fundraiser at the Colts Neck High School
on Saturday, October 12th to benefit research for a very rare disease
called, Eosinophilic Gastritis.
EG is a miserable, very rare
disease where these particular white blood cells, the eosinophils,
increase to an unhealthy amount and invade somewhere along the digestive
With EG, these white blood cells infiltrate the stomach
causing severe ulcerations, pain, internal bleeding and malabsorption of
vital nutrients. This leads to a whole host of medical problems!!
Caroline has been diagnosed with this white blood cell disorder that
has no known cause, safe treatment or cure, we have decided to be
proactive, and to raise funds for researching this disease.
have located a designated research center at Cincinnati Children's
Hospital where limited research has begun trying to find a cure for EG.
We hope that they can "crank up" the level of research with their donation!!
There will be live music, food and local vendors at our 5k fundraiser to make this charity event a family-fun day.
