Republican incumbents to be challenged by Democratic hopefuls
Monday's filing deadline for two seats on the West Long Branch Council sees the two Republican incumbents seeking re-election, and they face two Democratic challengers. Eatontown Council Democratic incumbents Jennifer Piazza and Meir Araman will be challenged by two Republicans who are looking to claim their seats on the dais this November. Republicans Kevin Gonzalez and newcomer Richard Robinson will be looking to join the Eatontown Council this fall. Gonzalez finished third in the voting for two seats on the Eatontown Council last November, and was not reelected. Candidates who wished to run in this year's election had to file with the Eatontown Borough Clerk by Monday.

The Monmouth County Republicans will retain a 5-0 majority on the Board of Chosen Freeholders. With 99 percent of districts reporting, Freeholder Director John Curley and Freeholder Serena DiMaso led their Democratic opponents William Shea and Kevin Lavan by over 25,000 votes, according to unofficial results from the Monmouth County Board of Elections. Democrats win two council seats
Incumbent Democratic Councilman Anthony Talerico and running mate Janice Kroposky have won two seats on the Eatontown Council, according to preliminary results in Monmouth County. The votes in nine voting districts in Eatontown have been tallied and Kroposky and Councilman Talerico have defeated incumbent Republican Councilman Kevin Gonzalez and his running mate Edmund Fitterer. Talerico received the most votes with 2,682 and Kroposky received 2,543. Gonzalez garnered 1,865 votes and Fitterer got 1,701 votes. These totals do not include mail-in votes.
