Time to Get Ready? Hurricane Season is Here
Hazardous weather impacts New Jersey residents on a regular basis. Many of us have experienced the long-term power outages, flooding, evacuations, property destruction, debris and other impacts to our daily lives that can result from the onset of nature’s fury. We can’t stop the onset of a natural hazard; but there are steps you can take to increase your safety and comfort when adverse conditions occur.
We encourage you to download and read through this “Hurricane Survival Guide for New Jersey,” and take the actions necessary to secure your family and home. The preparations you make for hurricanes will also help you survive all types of natural disasters.
The first step is to stay informed, via traditional or social media. The second step is to discuss hurricanes and other natural hazards with family members and determine ways to stay close and connected regarding your evacuation plans and locations. Consider those in your family or community who might need extra assistance, due to age or disability, regarding emergency plans. Don’t forget your pets! The third step involves gathering emergency supplies; many of these items can be found around your home.
Get ready now, be an example for others, share this information with those who need it. And thank you for being part of a more prepared New Jersey.

I agree with everything in this article especially taking extra precautions regarding the elderly and people with severe illness's. While we as the first aid squads were able with difficulty to reach everybody who needed us during last years hurricane it was very close to us not being able to respond. If wind speeds get too high it is too dangerous to roll an ambulance. This is not a choice it is the law. My suggestion is to make sure you have everything you need on site including medications, oxygen and possibly an alternate power source if you have equipment that requires electricity to operate such as oxygen generators. Precaution before hand could save a loved ones life and maybe even a responder trying to reach you with help.

Bring it on. We need some urban renewal and some of that Federal money here at the shore where buildings linger around way too long.

WMS826, you have it right! Yes, urban renewal by the government! Just brilliant. That money just comes right off the printing press and no one ever has to pay for it. Please share your brilliance with Ben Bernanke, Chairman of the Fed. Judge a building "lingering" for too long and it gets renewed. You get an A for personification; buildings don't linger like people, but nice use of the infitive, to linger. You receive an F for basic economics. Your theory died with the Soviet Union.

We pay the highest in Fed Tax and getthe least back. Time the middle class got some back instead of this liberal welfare state you voted for. Bring on the wind.

I didn't vote for these Left Wing nut jobs. Not at all my friend! An educated person would have been able to understand that in my reference to basic economics and the Soviet Union.
"Time we got some back"...We are in a massive deficit. So, you think reckless spending by bulldozing lingering buildings on the Jersey Shore is a path to growth and fiscal health? Yes, yes, yes! I see it now. How could I have been so blind? You need to be the Fed Chairman. Revitalize the Jersey Shore. That's the mantra.

I hope the country collapses to be honest. Then we can start with some common sense about goverment and regulation. Fire on Fort Sumter as far as I am concerned and leave the Union for all i care. We get no money from the Feds, they need states like Jersey more than we need them apparently so leave the union and contract with the Fed for defense only. Bye Bye see ya!.
Until then, bring on the wind, we need jobs and money here instead of Camden all the time and New Orleans.
