The Choraliers of Eatontown In Concert

The Choraliers of Eatontown are a group of over three dozen men and women that share a love of great music. Members come from Eatontown and other towns in the area. The group performs mostly popular songs in four part harmony. On Sunday June 10, under the musical direction of Katherine Jacobs and accompanied by Christina Blalock,  the Choraliers performed their Spring Concert titled Songs of America on the Woodmere School stage in Eatontown.

The production was divided into several parts with songs relating to four different themes, the first one which was called Song Of The Past.  Songs in that segment included This Is My Country, In The Good Old Summertime and Oh! Susanna. The second theme was called Song of the Soldier and included songs such as Battle Hymn of The Republic, When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again and Over There.  One of the highlights of the show occurred when the theme songs of the four US Military Services where performed.  As the Marine Hymn, The US Air Force, Anchors Away and The Cassions Go Rolling Along were sang, veterans of those branches of the military stood and were applauded by those in the audience.

The third group of songs called Song Of Our Homeland included Oklahoma, Kansas City and Georgia on my mind.  The fourth and final songs were under the heading Songs Of American Composers and included Summertime, Yankee Doddle Dandy, Give My Regards To Broadway along with several other great numbers.  The show concluded with God Bless America and God Bless The USA. At the beginning of the concert I was noting in my program what my favorites were.  By intermission I saw that I was noting almost every song was my favorite including several  that I did not mention here.

The group presented a plaque at the end of the show to Mary Vincelli.  Mary was the last performing member of the original Choraliers of Eatontown group which was formed in 1969.  Sunday marked Mary’s last time that she would be appearing in a Choraliers Show. The groups next show will be in early December.  New members are welcome.  For more information, contact ppoole9953@msn.com.
