About 77 Percent Of Long Branch Still In The Dark

Power outage update for the city.

JCP&L reported about 11,473 of the 14,830 customers in Long Branch City remained in the dark as of about 5:00 p.m. on Friday, according to its outage map.

Power outage numbers, meanwhile, continued to drop slightly across the state Friday.

JCP&L reported in a release on that the majority of customers will be restored by November 7.

The site also contains a .PDF that details the specific areas that are expected to receive power over the coming weekend.

On the site, JCP&L also posted:

"The majority of customers will be restored by next Wednesday. Customers in the hardest-hit areas are expected to be restored in an additional seven days. Remaining customers will be restored once damaged roads, infrastructure and homes are rebuilt. We will provide more information here, on Facebook and on Twitter, as well as through news releases, as it becomes available.

At the peak, more than 1 million of JCP&L’s 1.1 million customers were without power.

Long Branch is missing from the PDF list? Any idea why?

Yes, I think. The list has a cryptic note that municipalities unable to receive service are not listed - which means LB won't get any work for days. That's the nasty secret JCP&L was hiding when I tried to get info on when LB would be back - JCP&L emailed they don't give info for "specific addresses" - but concealed the fact that the entire City is being ignored. You can't make this stuff up.

It just seems strange because JCP&L's outage map showed a reduction in Long Branch numbers over the course of today, but yet this reduction isn't on this spreadsheet for 11/2... Something doesn't add up...

How can we find out what is really going on in long branch?

I tracked LB on the website from about 1 pm to 5 pm today. Number of customers out increased by 9, so indeed it doesn't add up. Wish someone from JCPL would give us a straight answer. Believe me I've tried.

I tracked it at 3 different times throughout the day ...
8:30am - 12,250
10am - 11,463
8:40pm - 10,706

I'd really like to know what's going on and why LB isn't on that list anywhere, even for the decrease shown on their own outage map today...

The robocall from the mayor also said JCP&L is working to get the hospital back either today or overnight...

Heard hospital is back. So why is LB not on JCPL list, assertedly because LB isn't able to accept power? Hospital is a priority ... And it was out for four to five days. No hope for residents I suppose. WLB seems in good shape. Two blocks from us, Monmouth U is lit up like a Christmas tree, and McDonalds has burgers - cash only, though. Time to freeze in bed now.

The outage map updated for LB since last night...

11/2 @ 8:40p - 10,706
11/3 @ 10:08a - 9,970

Still curious why it wouldn't be listed in their spreadsheet if it's allegedly showing improvement...

I understand crews are working as fast as possible and I am grateful for that, but it is alarming to see Long Branch NOT listed on the outage PDF. What is the story with this area? I guess that indicates a 11/5 or later restoration at the earliest? I will continue to bundle up. Also, AT&T service has been really bad. The word is Verizon was able to stay functioning throughout most of this ordeal. Curious about that one too. Be safe everyone!

I guess when JC P&L says transparency means don't list those municipalitisle they are not able to help. It's like saying you have a team batting average of 300 when you exclude the 10 worst hitters

What is JCPL hiding about our city? Do they really have no plan or schedule for restoring our service? Look at their list - LB still isn't mentioned. If JCPL has no plan, at least tell us that so we can flee to somewhere JCPL thinks is worthy of being helped. Note too that not only is JCPL refusing to tell us when we will be back, they also refuse to even say why they have no plan. Of course no trucks anywhere in our neighborhood since the storm. Guess that's all per the secret non-plan. Oh, where is our esteemed Mayor? At JCPL HQ demanding answers? Yeah, right.

Re the Mayor I might have been too hasty. Called LB Office of Emergency Mgmt (not 911!) they said JCPL isn't even telling Emergency Mgmt anything. So seems JCPL is concealing info from absolutely everyone. Perhaps they should take over Homeland Security?
