Traffic Flowing Again After Crews Extinguish Car Fire in West Long Branch

Police say car fire was not suspicious

 

Traffic delays in the area of Monmouth Road and Route 36 in West Long Branch have ended after an early morning care fire was extinguished.

The West Long Branch Police say the car fire caused delays on Wednesday morning on Route 36 eastbound .

The fire is not considered to be suspicious and was "apparently due to a mechanical issue," according to the West Long Branch Police.

Police and fire crews on the scene for the duration of the incident.

"The New Jersey State Police assisted the State Highway Department in using the opportunity presented by the highway closure to replace traffic signal bulbs," the West Long Branch Police stated on its Facebook page.
