Tinton Falls Community Day Expected to Draw Over 2,500
Annual event will be held Saturday, Oct. 6
Tinton Falls Community Day will return this weekend and is expected to draw over 2,500 people, organizers say.
The 13th annual event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 3 p.m. at the Sycamore Avenue Soccer Complex from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
This year’s Community Day include demonstrations by the local Fire Districts, EMS, Tinton Falls CERT, Tinton Falls Police K9 and Ace Gymnastics. The “Touch a Truck” program, which gives children of all ages the opportunity to get up close with large commercial vehicles, construction equipment and classic cars.
There will be free activities including “Dunk a Cop Tank”, Rolling Video Games, The Fun Bus, a trackless train, spin art, a blow-up obstacle course, a petting zoo, a rock wall climbing, a mechanical bull, and pony rides.
Free food will be donated by Foodtown (Food Circus), Luigi’s restaurant, Applebee’s, Rita’s Italian Ice, A&P Food Market, and New Jersey American Water. Free giveaways will include a television, iPod, t-shirts, books, digital cameras and more.
The landing of a MONOC Helicopter will be one of the highlights as it will touch down in the middle of the field.
Live music will be provided by the group Mad Man Moon.
“Councilman Steven Schertz, Lt. David Scrivanic and the entire planning committee have outdone themselves this year,” Tinton Falls Mayor Michael Skudera said. “Many residents including members of the fire districts and emergency services have graciously volunteered their time for this event.”
“Our volunteers and generous sponsors are what make this a truly great event for the Tinton Falls community," Mayor Skudera added.
Planning for Tinton Falls Community Day began in April by the Mayor’s Community Day Committee, which includes Mayor Skudera, Councilman Schertz (committee chairperson), Borough Administrator Gerald Turning Sr., Chief John Scrivanic, Lt. David Scrivanic, Det. Sgt. Scott Trocchia, Recreation Superintendent Sherri Eisele, and Public Works Director Gary Gebele.
