Man Stabbed During Altercation at Pine Tree Mobile Home Park in Eatontown
Stabbing occurred during altercation over parking space
A resident of Pine Tree Mobile Home Park in Eatontown has been arrested and charged with allegedly stabbing a West Long Branch man on Monday night.
Eatontown Police Det. Lawrence Tyler said the department received a call on Feb. 18 at 7:08 p.m. for a stabbing which had occurred on Scheri Lane in the Pine Tree Mobile Home Park, off of Highway 35 southbound.
Arriving police officers found that there had been an altercation over a parking space in front of one of the mobile homes on Scheri Lane and a 34-year-old West Long Branch man had been stabbed during the altercation. Tyler said the man was visiting a friend in the mobile home park.
Juan A. Sierra, 44, of Scheri Lane, apparently was upset because the West Long Branch resident had parked in front of his mobile home, leaving him nowhere to park.
"Sierra called out the neighbor and his visitor and started an argument with him about the parking space," Tyler said. "Mr. Sierra and the West Long Branch resident became involved in a physical altercation and Mr. Sierra stabbed the victim in the abdomen one time."
Tyler said Sierra also received a severe laceration to his finger from his knife during the altercation and both he and the victim were transported to separate hospitals for treatment of their wounds.
Sierra was released after treatment and was transported back to Eatontown Police headquarters where he was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and tampering with evidence. He was processed and transported to MCCI in lieu of $15,000.00 bail with no ten percent option.
The West Long Branch man was kept overnight at the hospital for treatment. Tyler said his injuries were found to be non-life threatening and he was released on Tuesday morning.
Detective Sgt. Healy and Det. Amodio handled the case and were assisted by Officer Williams, Officers Errickson, and Officer Bartlett.
