Eatontown Police Arrest Woman on Identity Theft Charges
Stacey L. McBride allegedly used an Eatontown resident's personal information to obtain credit cards.
Eatontown Police arrested a woman Thursday and charged her with identity theft and fraudulently obtaining credit cards in someone else's name.
Stacey L. McBride, 41, admitted in a statement to police on Feb. 2 that she used an Eatontown resident's name and information to obtain two credit cards. McBride was processed and released on a summons.
According to a police, the 59-year old victim gave McBride her personal information, including her social security number, with the belief that McBride was going to apply for state assistance online for the victim. When she failed to hear back from the suspect -- who allegedly refused to speak to her -- the victim discovered McBride had used her information to apply for two credit cards.
The victim contacted police last month about the incident, and the investigation was conducted by Det. John Gugliuzza.
