Avenue Donating 10 Percent of Proceeds to Local Rebuilding Efforts

Pier Village restaurant reopens today

Avenue, one of Pier Village's three oceanfront restaurants that was damaged during Hurricane Sandy, will be reopening today and will be donating 10 percent of its sales to Jersey Shore charities through the end of the year.

The restaurant, located at 23 Ocean Avenue, sustained over $100,000 in damage from Hurricane Sandy last month after high winds and water ripped through the building’s electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems, which are located on the bottom of the restaurant. Over $30,000 in food was lost to spoilage due to the absence of electricity for more than two weeks as well.

“We worked around the clock to get the business back online for the past sixteen days,” General Manager Thierry Carrier said in a release to Patch. “We actually feel very lucky that we only sustained the damage that we received. We’re certainly blessed to be able to reopen this quickly, and hope that our customers and neighboring businesses can return to some sense of normalcy in the near future.”

The restaurant has decided that 10 percent of all sales will be donated to local charities which aim to rebuild the Jersey Shore area that was devastated by Hurricane Sandy.

Avenue will feature a limited menu for the next few days, but will still offer a 3-course Thanksgiving menu and its full menu should return in a the coming weeks.

***Editor's Note Patch incorrectly stated that Avenue, McLoone's Pier House and Sirena would all be reopened on Wednesday, Nov. 14. This information was based on a post on Pier Village's Facebook page earlier this week. Sirena opened on Nov.15, and McLoone's Pier House also opened today. We apologize for any confusion this error may have caused.
