Another West Long Branch Home Burglarized This Week

Burglary occurred on Locust Avenue on Monday

The rash of burglaries in West Long Branch continued yesterday when a home was burglarized on Locust Avenue.

The West Long Branch Police say the home was broken into during the day, but did not provide a specific address or time of day.

The police have been reporting an increase in burglaries over the last few weeks in areas around Wall Street and Locust Avenue.

"It seems that the burglars exploit the opportunity presented after people leave for work and before school dismissals," the West Long Branch Police stated on Facebook.

Police say they are responding to the increase in burglary "completely and aggressively," and are asking residents to watch their neighborhoods for suspicious activity.

"We ask that everyone take precautions by using alarm systems if they have them, watch over your neighborhoods by noticing and reporting suspicious activity, and communicating with your neighbors to create a familiarity with what's normal or not around your homes," the police stated.
